About Us

The Academy of Confidence in Communicating is operated by Mance Productions Education Ltd through its two directors, Liz Mance and Jerry Chubb.

Liz Mance - Director

Liz is a qualified secondary school teacher with a BA Honours in the Performing Arts and a PGCE in Drama. She was Head of Drama at a large West London school and also worked as a GCSE examiner. In 2000, she was invited to Buckingham Palace to attend a reception to celebrate her services to teaching.

Liz has worked extensively as a teacher in both state and independent sectors. She runs regular workshops on a variety of topics to support GCSE and A Level work and also writes and directs educational shows with follow-up workshops for primary schools.

She worked as a freelance workshop leader with her theatre company for twenty years at the Museum of London and the Museum in Docklands and has also run several programmes at the Wellcome Collection. Liz also runs a theatre company and works as a professional actor and director.

Jerry Chubb - Director

Jerry studied History at Lincoln College, Oxford and then worked in the city as a research manager for Price Waterhouse Coopers for over twenty years. He now runs the administrative side of ACC overseeing finance, HR, timetabling and content management.

My son, Alex, has been doing the LAMDA course provided by ACC for three years now and is greatly enjoying it. All the tutors who worked with him are extremely nice and supportive. Not only does the course help to develop communication and acting skills, but it also teaches him literature as during these years he got to read very interesting material for both his lessons and exams. The poems chosen for him by his tutor are very engaging, creative and thought-provoking. All this reading is followed up by discussion of the main theme, the author, feelings and emotions in the poems which promotes independent thinking, analysis and emotional maturity.

I would recommend ACC and the wonderful teachers there for anyone wanting to instil confidence and self belief in their child both generally and specifically to public speaking or performing. My son has been having weekly classes for the last three years to hone his performance skills and it has been truly invaluable. The teachers have been, without exception, inspiring, warm and professional. I was impressed by how flexible they are, adapting to my son’s different requirements. The teachers focussed on helping him prepare and perfect his performance in their weekly sessions and Liz, the director, took the time to see him before his scholarship performance.
